Alexei wants to earn money for his beloved. He goes to the gambling house, he is lucky, but Pauline does not take money. After the passage of time, when the hero has already launched into all serious, from a friend he learns that Pauline loves him. Alex wants to resurrect in this love, but the game has already completely captured it.

Dostoevsky's novel "The Gambler" is not so much social, that is, showing the pernicious influence of gambling houses, as much as philosophical, conceptual.
