What is modern choreography?

The art of dance was born a long time ago, still inancient Greece, when he served not only for entertainment, but also for conducting pagan rituals. But even then the essence and meaning of it were about the same as today. Dance is an impulse of the soul, embodied in a bodily impulse. Later, various styles and schools of dance began to appear, it acquired exclusively sports and entertainment significance and became one of the main types of art (along with painting and poetry). What is the difference between modern choreography?

Modern choreography is, in fact,the union of sporting and aesthetic principles in dance. This style is characterized by a frequent lack of a clear rhythm and orientation towards musical accents.

It is important to note that the wave of these styles in recent decades has reached Russia, where it begins to acquire a massive character.

Modern choreography includes onea radically new direction, called "contact improvisation." It is a mixture of theatrical stage movement and smooth dance. Its essence lies in the fact that during the time of improvisation, the partners concentrate on each other, becoming one and responding to each impulse. As a result, there are extraordinary numbers in their beauty. But psychology is more important than choreography. This direction is based on complete mutual trust between partners, and technology plays a secondary role.

It can be said that one of the most complex andmulti-faceted art is choreography. Training it can take a person's whole life and requires him to harmoniously combine aesthetic-artistic and athletic skills. Modern choreography is complicated by the fact that it continues its daily development, and dancers have to constantly monitor the emerging trends and create something new. But this has its pluses in the form of freedom from the canons that have developed over the years. Therefore, if a person likes to contribute his ideas and innovations to the dance, modern choreography is the best for his self-expression.

The art of dance is constantly evolving, and the fact thattoday we call modern choreography, tomorrow it will become a classic, and the day after tomorrow will become legendary. And this is normal, since no art should stand still. So is the choreography. It meets the needs and general orientations of its time. Therefore it is important to participate in the development of modern choreography and support it.
