Painting of metal structures
Painting of metal structures is an importantfactor in the erection of any structures. The coating of metal, paint and varnish products provides some protection against external factors such as moisture, chemicals and much more. Needed varies depending on various factors. The painting process is performed in several stages:
- Preliminary preparation of the surface to be painted;
- Coating with a primer;
- Directly working with paint and varnish.
Preliminary preparation
Initially, it is necessary to clean and degrease the working surface. Stages of surface preparation:
- Getting rid of the previous coating, as well as dust and dirt;
- Removal of rust;
- Surface grinding;
- Degreasing of metal.
Primer
Pre-prepared surfaceis coated with an anti-rust composition. It is necessary to prevent the corrosion of metal and improve the adhesion to the primer. After it dries, a primer is applied.
Painting of metal
The surface is painted immediately after the primer has dried. Painting can be performed either manually or using a high-pressure apparatus.
The mechanized method of painting is the least difficult and therefore not expensive. In specialized premises, automatic and manual spray guns are used. The advantages of the method are:
- External factors, such as weather, do not affect the painting process;
- It is carried out, as a rule, by automation.
One drawback to this method is the limited capacity of the workroom. And as a result, it is not possible to paint large-sized structures.
Painting at high altitude is associated withcertain difficulties. Large amount of expensive work. For such a painting will have to rent a lift or install scaffolding. For these purposes, recently it is popular to hire mountaineers-builders. They descend to the workplace directly from the roof. Arriving at the construction site, they primarily fix the Alpine outfit and then immediately begin to work.
