Arch with own hands

Arches are one of the indispensable attributesmodern interior and very popular with the population. Not only does the arch construction give the room an unusual and attractive appearance, it also allows to achieve significant savings, since it is very successful replacing the door, which, as is known, has a considerable price today, and the arch itself - a job that will be easily executed any house craftsman.

Usually, arches are used to decorate dooropenings or with the equipment of various partitions, intended for zoning of space. The dimensions of these decorative elements are purely individual and depend on the width of the opening in which the arch is built with their own hands.

In the manufacture of arches, a tree is usually used,MDF or plasterboard. Of the first two materials, arches are usually sold already ready, however, it will be possible to find a suitable one only for a standard opening. If you plan to install the opening to individual dimensions, then the arches from MDF or wood can be made to order. However, the most popular and budgetary option is considered interior arches with their own hands from gypsum board.

Arched structures are very diverse in their configuration, so drywall - a material that unconditionally assumes any given shape - is the best suited for their manufacture.

Arch with own hands from gypsum board is mountedquite simply, the only thing that can cause difficulty is the construction of a frame from a metal profile. However, the presence of the right tool and a pair of skilful hands will always help the real master, especially if he is well informed about how to make repairs himself.

From the sheet drywall are prepared two identicalpreforms: first cut a rectangle, corresponding to the width of the opening and the height of the future arch, and then draw a semicircle on it. The next stage is the fabrication of the frame. On the metal profile (for it to bend better) make frequent incisions, after which the rod is bent according to the cut out workpieces. Both the arc obtained and the straight side metal bars are fixed with dowels on both sides of the opening.

After installing the frame, gypsum plasterboard construction. Already harvested upper parts of the arch are screwed with screws to the frame, to mount the side parts it is enough to cut out the gypsum cardboard stripes in size and fix them - approximately the way ordinary slopes do. It remained, it would seem, the most difficult part of the work - to decorate the inner concave side of the arch. In fact, this process is very simple. Drywall is easily cut, so the strip prepared from it on the dimensions of the upper part of the arch is enough to cut with a knife, after which it will take any desired shape. The resulting workpiece is fixed with the same self-tapping screws.

The Arch with its own hands is almost ready. If desired, you can decorate it with point lighting, which will give the design a special charm and charm.

To do this, it is enough to conduct electric wires connected to the network (not forgetting about safety) in the cavity of the arch, cut out the corresponding cavities and insert the lamps.

There remained only the finish trim, whichis the plastering of plasters and joints on plasterboard, processing it with putty and coloring. As for paint, the color of the arch does not have to be white, it is better to choose it in the tone of the main interior of the room.

If desired, interior arches can be built inall the apertures, except, of course, sleeping rooms. This original decorative element allows you to make an apartment more spacious and cozy, smoothly take the transition from one room to another and release a lot of useful space, which quite often occupy completely useless doors.
