Domestic and exhibition haircuts poodle

Poodle ... Beautiful, playful, intelligent and extraordinaryelegant dog. And if the playfulness and ingenuity of this breed are visible from the first minutes, then the beauty and elegance is attached, of course, haircuts. Poodle must be cut regularly. And there are haircuts "home" (hygienic) and exhibition (official). The greatest variety of haircuts can be seen, of course, at exhibitions. We'll talk about the three classic versions later. And now - a little bit about home-made poodle haircuts.

Already one word "home" for some reason makeswe think that this is something very simple and unpretentious. Simple - yes, simple - yes, but at the same time it also gives elegance and the main thing - helping to maintain hygiene. It is important to remember: even homemade poodle haircuts should be neat, otherwise the animal will be simply disfigured, and only pathetic remains will remain of beauty.

Under the preparatory (or hygienic, home) haircut means cutting the muzzle, paws (tips), abdomen, the base of the host and, of course, the genitals. The best tool for this work is a machine for cutting a poodle. Sometimes dog breeders stop on ordinary typewriters with attachments. The dog is after the bathing, once a month. If you are new to this business, then provide such work to professional groomers. Watching their work, you will eventually learn to cut yourself.

But if you can cope with a hygienic haircuteven not a very experienced owner, then the exhibition haircuts of the poodle require real professionalism. It is inadmissible here not only the appearance of even small coils (and the poodle's wool is prone to their formation), but also the extra millimeters of wool (or even their shortage).

For example, one of the most common exhibitionhaircuts called "Lion" assumes only a long coat in the withers and head area, and grows this hair for months! Therefore, it is necessary to teach the dog to scissors, a typewriter and a comb in advance, since childhood, otherwise "beautifying" will cost very big nerves, not only to you and the groomer, but to the dog.

Now consider the main exhibition haircuts poodles (see the photo opposite the description).

The Scandinavian Lion. Now there are two options for this haircut. Changes are dictated by fashion, or rather - by fashionable masters. Decorating the hind legs of a poodle, most recently it was customary to sever the wool from the back surface in order to show (emphasize) the angles of the hocks.

Now on the hips the wool practically does not touch, except that they trim a little. It should be noted that this type of haircut is the most common, because it helps to hide the small errors in the structure of the dog and at the same time emphasizes the dignity.

"Modern" (another name is "under the lamb") suggestscomplete removal of hair from the muzzle, cheeks, throat and paws. The abdomen is cut to the middle (the second pair of nipples near the female and a couple of centimeters from the genitals in the males), and the tail - at the third at the base. The whiskers on the muzzle are left. Ears do not shear. It is necessary to have a "crown" hanging over the eyes. Very important in the haircut is a gradual transition from the back to the panties, repeating the contours of the hind legs (from the bottom, they should be wide). The tail is made in the form of a pompon. Carefully cut the paws with your fingers (the expert should see the dog's claws well).

"Puppy haircut" is close to "modern". But, since the wool has not yet grown sufficiently, the mane is almost not sheared. Admission to the ring with such a haircut is possible only up to 18 months.

There are many more haircuts, but not everythe expert recognizes them. The two described above are classical. They must be performed flawlessly, with the observance of the smallest details. Mixing styles, like the wrong haircut as a whole, can lead to a temporary disqualification or leave the dog without evaluation.
