In 1987 at Motorshow in Paris for the first time the motorcycle of sports-tourist class Suzuki gsx 600 Katana was presented. The model was positioned as the most budgetary bike of the GSX series for the foreign market.

A bit of history

The end of the seventies of the last century was rememberedthe lack of sports motorcycles on the market, at that time only road models were produced. High-speed American machines only began to develop. Engineers of the Japanese company "Suzuki" took the existing heavy two-wheeled motorcycle Suzuki GSX-1100 and based on it created the model Suzuki GSX-1100F. Maximized the weight of the car and significantly increased maneuverability. However, a powerful heavy engine remained, and "Katana" (the so-called new bike) became disproportionate in terms of power and real weight by a motorcycle.

Next was created a line of sports "Katana" tourers, which began to be produced as Suzuki Katana GSX 600, with a motor of 599 cubic meters of working volume.

Until the early 90's motorcycles "Katana" lookedas usual "road builders", with a highly located fuel tank and a straight-shaped seat. But soon in the exterior of the bike there were changes: at first the engine was completely covered by fairings, the seat smoothly passed into the rear wing and was sharply lifted up at a large angle. However, in order for a motorcycle from the "road man" turned into a full-fledged sports bike, one change in external data was not enough. A radical modernization of the entire technical part was required.

On the motorcycle set the front 45millimeter telescopic fork of the reverse type with a damper mechanism. The rear suspension was a reinforced pendulum structure with a mono-shock absorber.

The improved GSX Katana 750 F wasIt was presented in 1988 and was produced before 2004. The motorcycle was equipped with a four-cylinder in-line engine with oil cooling, deformed and tuned to the optimum traction at medium and low revs.

The first generation of the "Catana 750F" model was produced in the period from 1988 to 1997, with an engine capacity of 106 hp. The design of the motorcycle was already outdated at that time and required a deep restyling.

"Catana 750F" of the second generation is cardinalchanged appearance, acquired a more modern design. The engine slightly reduced power and already produced 93 hp. at sixty-six newtonometers of torque.

In Russia, the second-generation motorcycle has become the mostpopular, because the appearance of the bike gave the impression of a supermodern motorcycle. In addition, the characteristics of the engine were significantly improved.

Model "Katana 750F" received a new steel framedrawn tubular profile, especially durable, but quite elastic. Suspensions effective with simple adjustments were installed, which gave the motorcycle additional damping properties.

The rear suspension mono-suspension was adjusted inwide enough range, the front suspension pens with a diameter of 45 mm had a stabilizing effect on the small irregularities of the roadway, so that the car went smoothly and with good speed. Technical characteristics of the "Catana 750 F" almost coincide with the parameters of the "Katana 600", motorcycles differ only in the volume of the fuel tank, (20.5 liters for "Katana 750 F" vs. 20 liters for "Katana 600").
